The Emporium Barbershop in Pointe-Saint-Charles is the third salon for the Montreal-based company. While the other two locations face the street, the new salon is situated within the red brick Nordelec complex, which once housed the Northern Electric Co. factory.

The primary goal of the designers was to create a welcoming and warm environment that reflects the brand’s identity, offering a contrast to the distinctly industrial character of the building.

A large glass partition, made up of tall sliding panels, separates the barbershop from the hallway. The panels overlap to fully open the salon to the shared space.

Six cutting stations, arranged in a “U” shape, structure the space symmetrically. The washbasin furniture, made of oiled white oak, is topped with soapstone countertops that will develop a patina over time. Supported by a continuous low wall, large floating mirrors face the cream-colored chairs.

Centrally placed in the space, two forest green lacquered oblong furniture pieces serve as display units for products and a payment station. Hanging from the ceiling, a white pergola conceals the mechanical elements while lowering the ceiling to create a more intimate atmosphere.

Behind the large dusty rose velvet curtain, which separates the main room from the employee area, there are a kitchenette, storage area, and a small laundry room.
